Developed through the implementation of a series of projects for the support of young people and women in politics and decision-making such as “Promotion of Democracy and Good Governance through political parties in Albania”, “Women for Change”, “Women for Women”, ” The promotion of VKQ in cooperation with the local government of Tirana”, “Tirana: My City-My Voice”, have been implemented by CRCA since 2005 and continue to be implemented today, with the financial support of Olof Palme International Center and UN Women Albania.
The projects implemented within the “Women and Youth in Politics” Program aim to promote democracy and good governance through political parties and civil society groups, as a condition for effective governance and other democratic developments in Albania.
The program aims to strengthen political forums of women, youth and civil society groups to participate and influence political and decision-making processes in the country.
The main interventions of the program are related to increasing the capacities of political forums of women, youth and civil society groups, in order to strengthen their abilities for formulating policies and influencing political and decision-making processes both at the central and local level. the local one; Information, Education and Awareness of women, young people, the general public and political parties in the country about the role and importance of the participation of women and young people in governance and political processes; Lobbying and Advocacy with/for youth and women’s groups to influence decision-making processes and public policies in order to guarantee citizens’ participation in these policies and their drafting process.
Project “Tirana, My City – My Voice”
The “Tirana, My City – My Voice” project, which is currently being implemented, aims to address the lack of interest of citizens in terms of participation in political processes in the country, strengthening civil society organizations as structures of social change to become the voice of the citizens through equipping them with instruments for democratization and social change.
To this end, the project focuses on informing, mobilizing and empowering civil society organizations working for children, youth and women, as well as youth political forums, to effectively monitor and hold local and central government to account. through participation in decision-making processes.
The main results of the work for the Support of Young People and Women in Politics and Decision-Making
Introducing the 30% gender quota in the Electoral Code and approving changes to the New Code to guarantee its implementation
Signing petitions in support of the gender quota by more than 30,000 supporters across the country
Strengthening the capacities of over 600 women and young people of political parties through training related to the electoral campaign, participation in decision-making, lobbying and advocacy techniques, etc.
Organizing a series of forums, seminars and workshops to promote the participation of women and young people in politics
Organizing a series of awareness campaigns to mobilize women and young people about the importance of voting
Drafting of a series of manuals and informative publications on the importance of participation in decision-making
Drafting of several monitoring reports on the work of the Tirana Municipal Council, etc.
