Korça, 19 December 2024 – The four main municipalities of Korça region are leading the efforts of local government units in Albania to support and empower youth, by developing the Local Youth Action Plans for the next three years (2025-2028), with the support of CRCA/ECPAT Albania, the National Youth Agency and the State Minister for Youth and Children, with the aim of improving the conditions for young people and their involvement in social life, cultural and political. The Plans were presented to youth and various authorities during the Youth Day event in Korçë.
Over 400 young people from the urban and rural areas of the four municipalities of Korça County participated in the process of drafting local plans, contributing ideas and suggestions for improving the life of youth. During 6 workshops and consultative meetings, they helped identify key priorities and objectives that will support youth development and empowerment.
Action Plans, drafted by the four Main Municipalities of Korça District, are focused on the advancement of young people living, working and studying in each of the municipalities, promoting youth engagement in political, social and economic life. The main priorities identified for each municipality are: youth employment and entrepreneurship, youth participation in decision-making, quality and inclusive education, as well as support for youth organizations and development of cultural and sports activities.
Four Municipalities and Municipal Councils will play a key role in leading the monitoring, coordination and management of Local Youth Action Plans, ensuring their implementation as planned. They will supervise the fulfilment of certain objectives and ensure regular information of youth and youth organizations on the results and use of the budget.
