Korça, 19 January 2024 – Young people in the four main municipalities of Korça region, started the preparation of the Youth Local Plans, which will define the strategic priorities for the youth in these municipalities, at least for the next three years. The preparation of Local Youth Plans is supported by CRCA/ECPAT Albania with funding from the National Youth Agency and the Ministry of State for Children and Youth.
The first regional consultative meeting was brought together, in the city of Korça, this afternoon with the participation of about 60 young people and Youth Coordinators from all four municipalities. The young people worked for about four hours in working groups and in consultation with each other to highlight the challenges faced by young people and the solutions they proposed for each municipality!
In the second part of the regional consultation, the Minister of State for Children and Youth, Mrs. Bora Muzhaqi, as well as two members of the Albanian Parliament representing this district: the Minister of Defence, Mr. Niko Peleshi and Mrs. Ani Zake joined the meeting to participate in a dialogue with young people, while learn more on their perspectives. During the dialogue young people highlighted some of the main issues and challenges facing the youth in the regional and municipal level, while Minister Muzhaqi and both MPs shared their experience, tools and methods that young people can use to succeed in their initiatives at local level, as well as raise such issues with the respective Mayors.
Since October 2023, CRCA/ECPAT Albania is supporting four municipalities to strengthen youth work, including the establishment for the first time in Albania, of the Regional Youth Services Center, an place where young people can find information on youth services for education, employment, vocational training, as well as social care services! The initiative is supported and funded by the National Youth Agency and the Ministry of State for Youth and Children.
