Korça, 20 November 2024 – In the framework of International Children’s Day, CRCA/ECPAT Albania, in cooperation with the high schools of the city of Korça, held an activity where young people discussed the state of children’s and adolescents’ rights in Albania. Participants were students from “Raqi Qirinxhi”, “Themistokli Germenji”, “Ymer Dishnica”, “Tefta Tashko Koço” and “Faik Konica” high schools. The activity aimed to raise awareness among young people about their rights and responsibilities in society.

The young people addressed some of the biggest challenges they face every day, such as bullying, discrimination, and the consequences of these phenomena in their lives. They also focused on identifying solutions to these problems, to create a safe and supportive environment.

In the first part of the activity, young people analyzed the role of institutions that are responsible for protecting the rights of children and adolescents, including family, school, local and central government, as well as international organizations working to protect children’s rights.

The second part of the activity focused on group work, where under the guidance of an expert from CRCA Albania, they used the methodology of the “Tree of Problems” to create a Manifesto of Child and Youth Rights, in the high schools of Korça. They discussed and offered proposals for solving problems such as online bullying, violence, stress and lack of support for cultural and artistic activities.

Also, during the activity, young people were introduced to the ISIGURT.al platform and the National Children’s Telephone Line – ALO 116111, two important tools for helping and reporting cases of bullying and violence against children.

The discussion took place in the framework of the project ‘netSMARTkids Albania’, funded by the European Union’s Digital Europe Programme.
