Tirana, 26 December 2013 –This year as well, the Children’s Human Rights Centre of Albania (CRCA) and the Albanian National Child Helpline - ALO 116, with the support of the International Commercial Bank (ICB Bank), donated 130 packages for 3-6 year old children from Tirana and Korça living in difficult economic conditions. This initiative was made possible thanks to the donation that the International Commercial Bank made to CRCA and ALO 116, to help the most vulnerable people of society. In the framework of the UNICEF initiative “Every Roma child in the kindergarten, this year’s focus was in helping 3-6 year old Roma children who live in extreme poverty.
It is the second time that such a big number of children are helped by CRCA and ICB Bank, one of the most serious banks in the country. The philanthropy of the International Commercial Bank was able to help 130, three to six year old, children from very difficult street, poverty, abandonment, blood feud situations from Tirana and Korça. It was thanks to the mediation of the organizations Roma for Integration Association and Ant traffic of Children, “Mother’s Heart” Centre, SHKEJ-Education for Life Organization, Disutni Albania in Korça, as well as Mrs. Vasilika Hysi, Member of Parliament and her collaborators from the municipal Unit No. 7 that made possible the reaching of these children. Three to six year old children were provided with jackets, shoes, sneakers and other underclothing. In the city of Korça food stamps were provided for one of the poorest Roma communities of the area.
The presents were distributed in the areas of Selitë, at the train rails nearby the 313 penitentiary, in the Bregu i Lumit area, Laprakë, Doganë, Fusha e Aviacionit and in the city of Korça. Most of the presents were delivered at the houses of the children in a 4 day marathon at the end of December. A special thanks goes to ICB Bank, the CRCA staff, organizations Roma for Integration Association and Anti traffic of Children, “Mother’s Heart” Centre, SHKEJ-Education for Life Organization, Disutni Albania in Korça and to the chair of the Children’s Rights Parliamentarian Caucus, Mrs. Vasililka Hysi who with her relentless dedication to children is an example for all of us.
From the social responsibility point of view, taking into consideration the cooperation with the International Commercial Bank, we sincerely hope this to be the continuation of a philanthropic culture of private businesses in the country. Thanks to these initiatives CRCA and ALO 116 can continue helping much more children every year.
