Tirana, 14 February 2025 – As part of the implementation of the Action Plan for Digital Safety in Schools, the Ministry of Education today presented the new Digital Handbook for Parents and, in cooperation with CRCA/ECPAT Albania, announced the creation of the National Network for Cyber Safety in Schools.
The event brought together education professionals, psychologists, school safety officers, and representatives of public institutions and civil society organizations committed to protecting children in the digital space.
In her remarks, Minister of Education Ogerta Manastirliu emphasized: “Thanks to our cooperation with civil society, today we are deepening the implementation of the Action Plan for Digital Safety in Schools. Together we are building a safer environment for every student and teacher in Albania.”
The National Network for Cyber Safety in Schools will play a key role in creating a safe and inclusive digital environment for students, teachers, and parents. Its main functions will include responding to cyber incidents affecting the school community, providing guidance and recommendations for new online safety policies, and strengthening the digital and professional capacities of teachers and educational institutions.
Altin Hazizaj, Executive Director of CRCA/ECPAT Albania, highlighted the importance of timely response to online incidents, stating: “Every incident reported through the iSIGURT.al platform will be handled and resolved within 48 to 72 hours, ensuring the safety and well-being of children online.”
Meanwhile, psychologist Orsiola Miho underlined the crucial role of psychologists, social workers, and school safety officers in supporting children in difficult situations, stressing the importance of inter-institutional cooperation for a rapid and effective response.
The establishment of the National Network for Cyber Safety in Schools marks an important step toward ensuring a safe and protective digital environment for children, strengthening the partnership between public institutions and civil society in defending children’s rights in the digital age.
