“One book, one friend” - Meeting with juveniles in prisons on the international day of books for children

Tirana, 05 April 2013 – The Children’s Human Rights Centre of Albania (CRCA) in cooperation with the General Directorate of Prisons and the Association "Me, The Woman" Pogradec, organized in the Prison of Korça a meeting with juveniles awaiting trial in the framework of 2 April, the International Day of Children's Book. The event was part of the CRCA programme "The Sky is for all" supported by the U.S. Embassy in Tirana.

The focus of the meeting was to encourage juveniles to discover the satisfaction of reading, importance of the books and to respect the irreplaceable contribution that they provide as creators of social progress and human culture. The book is the best friend and attempts to highlight to the real value of the book is a challenge for which we should contribute, was the message shared in this day with juveniles in pre-detention.

Representatives of the Association "Me, The Woman" Pogradec donated for each juvenile books, while together read some of them. All participants discussed and shared experiences from different books they have been reading.
