Parents, educators, teachers and psychologists play a major role in informing and educating children to talk and tell about sexual harassment, sexual violence, inappropriate touching by an adult or another child!

Everyone who takes care of the child, must teach the child, boy or girl, that no one has the right to touch him and make him feel bad – especially in the intimate parts of the body!

Whenever this happens, the child should be taught to immediately express concern in a way or form that he/she is safe and protected! Professionals who take care of the protection and care of children call this process: raising a red flag – basically the child expresses a level of danger that he/she is facing!

In Albania, this concept is not known, hence BARNAHUS Albania is launching this awareness campaign for parents and professionals, so that together we can educate children to protect themselves from sexual violence!

Whether it’s a virtual flag or a real one, sit down and talk to the child about their body, their private parts, that no one has the right to touch! Talk to them about sex and sexuality from an early age and always with tools and ways that the child understands! Explain the red flag concept, when to raise it and why it should be done right away!

Professionals themselves must learn this concept and use it whenever they suspect that a child may be a victim of sexual violence in a family or institution! This is the least we can do for children and their safety!
