The Project ” Supporting minors in Kavaja Institute ” Phase II, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Prisons, Juvenile Institute of Kavaja, Save the Children,  UNICEF and CRCA / DCI  Albania, organized in date 26.01.2012 an activity with the minors of this Institution  focused on “The perception of freedom through photography in the grounds of detention.”
The purpose of this activity was to inform minors about photography, its importance and how the minors  perceive photography as freedom from an environment where freedom is restricted.
The event was moderated by an external expert of CRCA / DCI Albania who informed the minors and presented the history of photography, its importance, implementation techniques, etc.
37 minors, separated in two groups, detention and pre-detention, attended the event. They expressed interest and asked questions about the raised topics and discussed about photography.
The four juvenile sectors were visited by the external expert and the program staff after the theorical information.  The same minors took photographies inside the sectors where they mostly spend their time, encouraged to take pictures of how they see freedom from their point of view.
From among the set of pictures made by them, the same minors will choose their best photos to be presented in an exposition, event to be held in February with students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Elbasan, and the best theme inspired photo will be chosen as the one winning the exposition. For the first award photo, the minor will be given a certificate by CRCA/DCI Albania, and a gift from the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Elbasan.
