Free Legal Aid Office for Vulnerable Children and Youth in Albania (FLA) is the first legal office set up by an NGO to protect children and young people in Albania. The office was established by CRCA Albania to protect the most vulnerable children and youth.
The initiative brought for the first time in Albania the concept of free legal aid for children and young people, who are without legal protection and almost without access to the justice or the public administration systems. FLA has been in operation since 2001 focusing on protecting the rights and freedoms of children and youth in Albania from the acts of the public administration and institutions in Albania. Since 2001 more than 150 issues have been followed and over 2000 children and young people have benefited from our services throughout Albania.
Strategic litigation, defence and legal counselling, advocacy for rights and access to justice, are among FLA main priorities. In 2010, the Legal Office concluded a joint-agreement with ALO 116 Albania (Albanian National Child Helpline) and the PINK Embassy (a major LGBTI rights organisation) to provide integrated legal services for the protection of rights and increase of access to justice for children, adolescents and young people in Albania by using some of the best human resources available online, via telephone or directly thought our legal experts.
