The United Nations Secretary-General’s ” Orange World ” initiative was conceived by activists who attended the first edition of the World Women’s Leadership Institute in 1991, and this year marks its 30th anniversary. Since 1991, over 6,000 organizations in 187 countries around the world have participated in the campaign, covering 300 million people. According to the latest estimates, approximately 1 in 3 women aged 15 and over worldwide have been subjected to physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner, non-partner, or both, at least once in their lifetime.
These activities are organized in the context of the implementation of the CRCA / ECPAT initiative “Promoting gender equality and ending violence against girls and young women in Albania”, which is supported by UNDP Albania in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, as part of the United Nations Joint Program “End Violence Against Women in Albania”, funded by the Government of Sweden.
