Tirana, 19 September 2020 – Child Rights Centre – CRCA/ECPAT Albania, since 1999 has provided free primary and secondary legal aid to children and young people in conflict with the law and since 2011 has been licensed to provide specialized services in community and national level, while have 24 years of experience in child and youth protection services.
Since November 2019, CRCA/ECPAT Albania has launched the program “Hope for children and youth in conflict with the law in Albania” which aims to identify, develop and promote a community-based alternative service to child and youth delinquency that support positive development of children and young people, while ensuring functionality of juvenile justice system and child welfare system.
Among others, this initiative has as its main objectives to support the efforts of the justice system in Tirana to create friendly reintegration processes for children and young people who are in conflict with the law, in order to facilitate their integration into families, neighborhoods. and community through the provision of psycho-social, legal, educational, vocational training, employment services, etc., after they leave detention and prisons; Develop and disseminate models and standards of practice for the rehabilitation of juveniles in conflict with the law, as a reference point for effective youth justice services that strengthen the rehabilitation of children and young people in community settings; Also address gaps in policies and services that facilitate child and youth crime and provide recommendations to institutions, policymakers, social partners and NGOs for the development and promotion of community-based services for the rehabilitation and reintegration of children and young people in conflict with the law.
The establishment of a Center for Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Juveniles in Conflict with the Law and the provision of free legal aid services, professional courses and career guidance sessions is one of the most important results that will come with the implementation of this initiative;
