Guideline ‘What can parliamentarians do to protect children from violence’

The Parliament is one of the pillars of democracy. It is the forum where all the issues and concerns of individuals and society are discussed and provided with legal and political solutions.

The role of Parliament in this respect is important because it enables citizens, through their elected officials, to put in place the machinery that makes the democracy work. The MPs, on the other hand, respond to the complaints and demands of their voters, urging the Government to be accountable to the needs of citizens, giving priority to the development of programs in their assistance.

This Guide was prepared in cooperation with the "Friends of Children" Parliamentary Group, UNICEF and CRCA Albania, as part of the joint program "Protection of Children from Violence". This publication serves to all MPs of the Albanian Parliament, those who are part of this legislature and those who will become part of it in the future, to work on advancing the rights of children and adolescents, to fight for the elimination of violence and child exploitation.
