For the first time, the International Safer Internet Day (#SID2025) is organized jointly between Albania and Kosovo. In Albania, the campaign focuses on bullying and hate in the digital space, and children with disabilities, while Kosovo is advocating for better child protection in the digital space. The campaigns bring together the most important institutions and organizations of both countries.

Tirana, 11 February 2025 – Albania and Kosovo opened jointly this morning activities for the International Safer Internet Day (#SID2025), which corresponds also with the opening of the National Campaign “Together for Better Internet”, which lasts throughout February. The campaign brings together, as part of its Organizing Committee, the main institutions and organizations of civil society, as well as the Internet industry. In Albania the campaign is supported by the NetSmartKids Albania initiative, co-funded by the European Union and CRCA Albania.

The campaign started today in the morning, where in a series of schools across Albania the Ministry of Education and partner organizations held an hour of teaching on how children can be safer and more protected online.

During the month, the Steering Committee of the Campaign has planned to undertake a series of new activities and initiatives to protect children and youth from bullying and hate speech in cyberspace.

In the framework of the campaign, on February 13th in Tirana Hotel International will be held the 10th National Forum: Together against Bullying and Hate Speech in Cyberspace, where will be published the report on online incidents reported by children and adolescents at iSIGURT, al – National Center for Cyber Security.

This year the opening of the Safer Internet Day is in cooperation with Kosovo, where during this month iSIGURT in cooperation with the Kosovo authorities will co-organize the Open Forum “Towards better protection of children in cyberspace”.

Another important activity of the Campaign is the establishment of the National Alliance against Bullying and Hate Speech on the Internet, an informal network that will bring together organizations, institutions and experts to advocate for a safer and more protected digital space for citizens.

For the first time, the campaign will focus on children and adolescents with disabilities, which is one of the most forgotten groups in the digital space. The Open Forum: “Are children with disabilities protected in the digital space?”, will be co-organized by MEDPAK, iSIGURT.al and ALO 116-111, while the State Social Service and CRCA Albania will organize an online consultation with all child protection and social services professionals in Albania.

The campaign also follows other activities that include information meetings in public education schools, artistic performances related to the consequences of online and offline sexual violence and exploitation, performed by renowned artist and Ambassador of safe internet, Emma Andrea and the promotion of Safer Internet Ambassadors in schools.

The National Campaign “Together for Safer Internet” aims to create safer cyberspace for all through education, awareness and cooperation between institutions, organizations and citizens, emphasizing that if we all work in the same direction we can create an online space without fear for children and young people.
