Tirana, 23 June 2025 – The National Platform for a Safer Internet (iSIGURT) and ALO 116-111, as part of the EU funded netSMARTkids programme and their ongoing commitment to the protection of children and youth from digital risks, participated in the International Training “Consultation on Online Harms Against Children”, organized by Child Helpline International (CHI) and UNICEF in Livingstone, Zambia.

At this training, which brought together over 30 child helpline professionals and international partners from around the world, iSIGURT and ALO 116-111 were invited to present the Safe Internet Ambassadors Model – an innovative practice that empowers the active participation of children and youth in educating and preventing online risks.

The Safe Internet Ambassadors play a key role among their peers by raising awareness about: safe use of technology, prevention of cyberbullying and online harassment, exposure to harmful content, and the impact of the internet on mental health.

The Albanian model was praised as particularly inspiring, standing alongside successful experiences from countries such as Nepal and Tanzania.

On the second and third days, the global meeting of Child Helpline International members was held, where ALO 116 has been a member since its inception. Discussions focused on the role of helplines in emergency situations, addressing technology-facilitated sexual abuse, and sharing best practices for protecting children in online environments.

The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to implement the “Livingstone Declaration”, marking an important step toward strengthening international cooperation for a safer internet for children everywhere.

The training serves as the foundation for the development of an international Training of Trainers (ToT) manual, which will support child helpline professionals in addressing the four main types of online harms against children.

ALO 116-111, in collaboration with iSIGURT.al, is proud to be one of the main contributors to this manual, bringing Albania’s experience to an international level and further strengthening online protection for children and youth in the country.
